Photoshop is difficult. Here are a few ways I learned how to use this software for the better.

As a beginner, Photoshop is a platform that can be extremely overwhelming. In PR design Photoshop is a skill you must have to create content for your organization. However, as you continue developing the skillset to use it effectively, keep these things in mind.
1. Understand Layering
In Photoshop, you are able to access a tool with the ability to layer certain edits, photos, or texts on top of one another. It is important to be able to access the layering tool properly and successfully. While drafting my handouts for OU Recruitment Services, I learned layers should be used to add dimension to your design. For example, if you want one part of your design to have emphasis, add it as a separate layer to position it around a photo or other part of your design. By creating an element as a separate layer, you are able to control that piece in regard to the design as a whole.
Here is a video tutorial about layering and why it is so important to create in Photoshop.
2. Utilize Copy-and-Paste
When writing, the copy-and-paste functions on your keyboard can help you understand information about different topics. In Photoshop, you can copy and paste settings to create uniformity across multiple different designs. The easiest way to do this is simple to hold "Control" and the letter "C" down while selecting the image, text, or design element you wish to copy. To paste on another layer or another design, hold down "Control" and the letter "V". This step may seem easy, but utilizing it in Photoshop can save you time and energy when creating many designs at once.
3. Find the History Button
Unlike other photo editing software, Photoshop doesn't allow you to "undo" edits you make. Instead, the history button should be used to go back and see past versions of your design. Most of the time, working in Photoshop takes time and lots of editing. Sometimes, you prefer a past version of your edits to the current. Located in the top right corner of the toolbar, the history button allows you to continue making these edits while creating a design that truly suits your needs.
Where these are just a few tips, these are little things that make a huge difference in learning to work in Photoshop. As I created and finished my designs for OU Recruitment Services, I hope to continue learning about proficient ways to use Photoshop to my advantage.
