Total Hours: 95 hours
During these hours of my internship, I continued working on assignments similar to those I discussed in previous posts. More making edits to metadata spreadsheets and text files that took meticulous attention to detail to complete. So for the purpose of not having another repetitive post, I thought I would take some time to reflect on what this internship is teaching me about my future career as a law librarian. As someone new to this career field, I really had little to no expectations about the work I would be completing in this internship. However, I quickly realized that metadata editing is more telling than I might have imagined about my future career as a law librarian.

As a person who understands the need for information and accurate information, metadata work has much more meaning than I once understood. Without the hours of work put in by all the interns and intern supervisors at the Law Library of Congress, there are so many people that would go without access to up to date information. Especially considering the nature of the work we do and the ability to document the law making process, there is so much good in metadata editing. When thinking about my future career path, I think about the understanding and attentiveness I know have when it comes to informational metadata. I think there might be a place for me somewhere to take these skills and this passion to ensure data is accurate in a law library. There is so much more passion in these small, repetitive tasks than I really ever imagined, and I feel thankful that I've had the opportunity to explore that while working for the LLOC.
