After I submitted and was approved for my first assignment, I quickly moved on to Assignment 2. This assignment had less material to go through, but actually took me just as long as Assignment 1 to complete. This assignment focused on updating the metadata spreadsheet for pages 72-145 of the Senate Bills section of the 92nd Congress. For this section specifically, I had to ensure the .txt files for each bill coordinated correctly. This is the portion of the assignment that was especially time consuming. The .txt files and the PDF where the information are separate, so ensuring these are translated over correctly and also correspond to the correct bill is a tedious process. There are also certain exceptions I had to be aware of, specifically in the public laws listed as references for specific bill entries.

Here is a beautiful screenshot of the spreadsheet I worked in for Assignment 2.

I also had my first opportunity to edit the .txt files for this assignment. I learned a new, more physical skill of how to edit such things - using a Google Chrome extension called Text File Editor! Essentially, I opened each .txt file and added paragraph breaks where they were needed and corrected any mistranslations. This process is also lengthy and requires a keen eye to the awkward spaces in these paragraphs that should actually be paragraph breaks. I had quite a few times to review these too to make sure I didn't miss anything. Even after turning it in the first time, I had a few things to review and edit. Working in the .txt files is not for the weak!
